For many children, math is the most dreaded subject. However, if your child is having trouble with math, that’s all the more reason to make sure s/he practices it over summer vacation!

In this post, The Tutoring Center in Birmingham will share with you a few ways to help your child improve in math during the break, so s/he can ward off the summer slide.

How to Study Math over Summer Break

Refresh

Encourage your child to reread his/her math notes at least a couple of times during the summer. This way, you’ll make sure that s/he won’t forget what was already taught in school.

Use the Knowledge

The best way to keep your child’s math skills in shape, is by using them. Hand out exercises from the Internet for him/her to complete or ask him/her to add up the bill at the market.

Mind Power

If you decide to motivate your child to use math over the break, make sure s/he does it without a calculator. It can be a great tool but it can hinder the learning process.

Discuss

Ask your child about math concepts, or ask him/her to explain a certain equation. Talking about it can be a great option to keep all that math knowledge going strong.

Get a Tutor

With a tutor, your child will be able to practice, learn, and clear doubts about math. Summer tutoring is sure to get him/her ready for the new school year.
